Overcoming Life's Pain - How To Cope With Loneliness

Loneliness can eat at your very soul. Some individuals are better at being alone compared to others. I use to be a person who required many individuals plus activity in my life. I was not use to being alone and didn't much like the thought of visiting a vacation cabin in the woods with no one around but me. I certainly wasn’t frightened of the night or even wild animals or even bad people. I merely did not like the thought of staying alone. Throughout life I had been always surrounded by family members, close friends, dates and then marriage and children. I had been very involved from a Religious perspective with adults and youth. My wife and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary with a hundred plus teenagers inside a cinder block building and we loved it.

Several years later God took my wife home and I was left behind. It felt like He'd taken my world away from me. We had several daughters but they didn't reside at home, one married and one enrolled in college. The house became incredibly lonely and I would sit down on the patio until the wee hours of the morning. Over the following several years God began to mature me and to show me the way to live life with Him in a much deeper way than I ever have.

I've been a Christian for many years, have taught, preached and also have went to foreign countries in order to disperse His word. Some of those areas were really dangerous. He used the passing associated with my wife and other losses during my life in order to show me His power also to allow me to come into a much deeper relationship with Him.

I've learned to surrender to Him, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. There is no loneliness in my life like it absolutely was just after my wife perished. I might be totally by myself and still have a large smile on my face and peace in my heart. When bad issues come into my life or I am all alone I praise Him for being my Heavenly Father.
